Zhewitra 40 mg contains Vardenafil, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Like other PDE5 inhibitors, it works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual activity to help achieve and maintain an erection. However, just like any medication, it can have side effects, and some may be serious. Serious Side Effects of Zhewitra 40 mg (Vardenafil) While most people tolerate Vardenafil well, some serious side effects may occur. These include: Priapism (Prolonged Erection): A painful erection lasting more than 4 hours. This is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment to avoid permanent damage to the penis. Severe Allergic Reactions (Anaphylaxis): Symptoms include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may lead to difficulty breathing or swallowing. This requires immediate medical attention. Heart-Related Issues: Chest pain, irregular heartbeat, or shortness of breath Zhewitra 40 mg sexual activity could indicate serious heart problems, especially in individuals with pre-existing heart conditions. Low blood pressure (hypotension): Symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness, particularly if taken with certain other medications like nitrates. Sudden Vision Loss (Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy - NAION): A rare but serious side effect, characterized by sudden vision loss in one or both eyes. If this occurs, stop taking Zhewitra and seek medical help immediately. Hearing Loss or Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ears): Sudden loss of hearing or ringing in the ears could be a sign of a serious reaction and requires prompt medical attention. Stroke or Heart Attack: Rarely, there may be an increased risk of heart attack or stroke, especially in individuals with pre-existing cardiovascular issues. What to Do in Case of Serious Side Effects: Seek immediate medical help if you experience any of the serious side effects mentioned above. Discontinue use of Zhewitra if you experience any signs of a heart attack (such as chest pain or discomfort, pain radiating to the arm, jaw, or back, nausea, or sweating). Other Less Serious Side Effects: Headache Flushing Nasal congestion Dizziness or lightheadedness Indigestion or upset stomach It's important to take Zhewitra under the guidance of a healthcare provider and discuss any existing medical conditions or medications you're taking, as this can help reduce the risk of side effects.
